Discovering... FUSION

Time to discover... this fortnights FUSION!

I thought this may be my last FUSION contribution on the Design Team, but after having a massive clean out of my crafting space, I am feeling totally re-inspired! Combined this fabulously versatile FUSION sketch and gorgeous photo inspiration, rotated the sketch 90 degrees anti-clockwise and used this beautiful over-sized butterfly as the star element. Had a blast getting inky with a range of Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemon, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry, together with this gorgeous Prima Cherry Blossom mask. Butterfly coloured using Mr Heuy's spray mist in Heirloom Blue. This fabulous over-sized butterfly stamp and sentiment are by Tim Holtz.

Happy Mixed Media Card Collage...

I have had FUN playing along with the Mixed Media Card Challenge collages this month, I hope you have too! This weeks card was created using the bits and pieces in my crafting area left over from earlier creations, and literally creating a collage from them. Background She stamp from Unity, Ranuncular stamps by Stampendous, fussy cut from ombre paper by Echo Park. Winnie and Walter "Happy" diecut and Simon Says Stamp diecut butterfly.

Playing along with Addicted to CAS Butterfly too.

Watercolour Bloghop...

Thought I'd play along again with the Watercolour Bloghop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh. This time I created a shaker card with a Gelato watercolour background, silver sparkles and the stars, morror circles and pink sequins from the Winnie and Walter 1st Birthday Bash Sequins Mix by Pretty Pink Posh, sentiment and cute watercoloured elephant are from Mama Elephant.

Mojo Monday & Mixed Media Card Challenge...

For all of you who may be interested (and who wouldn't be!!!) Julee is celebrating a fabulous 400 milestone with Mojo Monday, and as an extra special celebration, there are a couple of DT spots open as well!

I flipped the Mojo Monday sketch to create a collage card. The base layer is Tim Holtz tissue paper, painted with gesso front and back. When the gesso layer dries add some Gelatos and watercolour the moth. The good thing about using Gesso as the base is that you can use wet wipes to rub back the colours, and reduce or remove any creative misadventures! The word strips, corner and Flourish are from Kaisercraft, together with a doily from my stash, Heidi Swapp clear butterfly diecut, and Making Memories notepaper stamped with this gorgeous Verve "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams" sentiment.

Also playing along with Mixed Media Monthly

Dear Coffee, You're Kinda Hot...

I had fun playing with my Prima coffee cards, so I thought I'd create a variation on a theme. Still combining the fortnightly FUSION with the Summer Coffee Lovers Bloghop! This card uses the gorgeous FUSION sketch and coffee card from Prima, this Beau-TEA-ful Unity stamp as my coffee cup, with papers from MME and Echo Park Ombre (to play along with Virginia's View Ombre too!)

Time for Coffee & FUSION...

I thought I'd be a bit cheeky and combine my fortnightly FUSION with the Summer Coffee Lovers Bloghop! So this fortnights FUSION card uses the gorgeous sketch - complete with "accidental" coffee ring instead of a star (don't you just hate it when that happens LOL!), and coffee card from Prima, papers are a very summery Hello Friend by Glitz bokeh effect background paper, and Echo Park Ombre (to play along with Virginia's View Ombre too!)

Inspired by Jude Craig...

My daughter and I were lucky enough to have discovered Jude Craig's gorgeous eco-dying studio when we visited the Dandenong Ranges Open Studios and participated in a demonstration of the eco-dying techniques.

My daughter was so inspired that she chose Jude as one of her inspiration artists for a school art assignment, and Jude was amazingly warm and welcoming when asked if it was possible to interview her for the assignment.

The process of eco-dyeing usually takes a couple of weeks, but due to the short time-frame for the project, this had to be sped up. Thankfully Jude was kind enough to let Alannah use some of her collected leaves and onionskins for dyeing. Eco-dyeing involves a lot of experimentation, and Alannah was sure her experiment had failed...

But quite the contrary, they turned out so amazingly she couldn't bear to cut them up...

To learn more about this fabulous technique, visit Jude's website Naturally Dyed, Jude has a fabulous Winter Colours Workshop on this weekend in her studio in Upwey at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges.

Layered patterned papers, flowers created from felt, dictionary paper, button and thread, wood veneer birdcage, copper medallion, Crate Paper Lemongrass diecuts, Lil Davis' "treasure" and MME sentiment stickers. I may even get my fingers a little more messy for my next Collage card!
